Weeve

Install Weeve

Weeve is waiting for its Chrome Web Store review. Until it's listed, you can install it yourself in about a minute. It works in Chrome, Edge, Brave, Arc and Opera.

Install it yourself

  1. Download Weeve and unzip it.
  2. Open chrome://extensions (edge://extensions in Edge) and switch on Developer mode.
  3. Choose Load unpacked and select the unzipped folder.
  4. Pin Weeve to the toolbar, open it and pick the language you're learning.

A version installed this way doesn't update itself. Once Weeve is on the Chrome Web Store, install it from there instead.

AI weaving, if you want it

The word lists swap one word for another. AI weaving asks a language model to pick words in a paragraph and give the form that fits the sentence, so articles and mutations come out right. It's off by default, and the paragraphs you weave go only to the model you choose.

  • On your own computer, free: Ollama with Salamandra 7B, an open European model trained on Irish and Catalan. It needs about 5 GB of memory.
  • Any OpenAI-compatible server: LM Studio, llama.cpp, vLLM or OpenRouter.
  • Claude: with your own API key, paid per use.

To set up Ollama, run:

ollama pull hf.co/mradermacher/salamandra-7b-instruct-2606-GGUF:Q4_K_M
OLLAMA_ORIGINS='chrome-extension://*' ollama serve

Then open Weeve, choose AI weaving → Set up, pick Ollama and press Check. Right-click any paragraph and choose Weave this paragraph with AI.

Help with the words

The word lists were drafted with a language model and haven't been reviewed by native speakers yet. If you spot a wrong word, use Suggest a fix in the word lists. To ask for another language, suggest one.
